WEEK 5 – PLAYOFFS
Good news, the seeds were set. With 8 teams there would be no play ins. Just three rounds to decide the winner and Fowling For Dollars.
Of course there is always a monkey wrench and we had two of them. Regular Season Champions 8 Fowled Folks Home was going to be down a member. Patty Brown had accepted tickets to the Janet Jackson concert at Pine Knob. League rules state that you cannot win the tournament with a sub. But you can play spoiler and that's what the Fowled Folks Home did. Lisa Johnson replaced Patty Brown and was every bit as good as Patty.
Also there was an unexpected absence. 7 One Eyed Jacks were a no show, which gave the second seed 1 Bonk Dis a bye into the semifinal round.

That meant the other semi final between 1 Bonk Dis and 3 Tiny Hands was actually the Championship game. This time Zack and Ben came through and beat 1 Bonk Dis 2-1. So with that they were the virtual champions.

WEEK FOUR
FINAL WEEK OF THE REGULAR SEASON
The standings were pretty tight going into the final week of the regular season. 8 Fowled Folks Home had a 1 game lead over 1 Bonk Dis. 5 The Jabronis were two games behind them in third. Then there was the four-way tie for 4th place. If we are going to have playoffs next week, we need to get some separation for the seeding. And (spoiler alert) that is exactly what happened, with our only tie in the rankings coming from an unexpected place. Let’s dig in!
MATCH 1
It started off with a bang. The commish yelled LET’S FOWL and seconds later there was a loud slam followed by a scream and cheers. Kill Pin Patty Brown had BONKED! That ended game one against 6 Fowling For Soup pretty quickly. 8 Fowled Folks Home rode the Bonk wave and won 3 more games getting the 4-0 sweep. 7 One Eyed Jacks have been Fowling pretty well lately but can’t seem to catch a break. 1 Bonk Dis made sure of that in Match 1 reeling off two wins before splitting the final two for a 3-1 victory. 4 Bonk Shells kicked off the final week’s first match with 3 straight victories before dropping the final against 3 Tiny Hands. 2 Pinning for the Fjords had 0 wins in week 1, 1 win in week 2, 2 wins in week 3 so they had planned on winning 3 in week 4. 1 Bonk Dis and 4 Bonk Shells both won their opening match and faced each other in Match 2. Terry and Alma took games 1 and 2. It looked like 4 Bonk Shells had game 3 but Terry responded with a rebuttal to take game 3 to overtime. Alicia defended by getting the OT kill for the win. Ben and Alexis took game 1. Ben and Zack took game 2. As time was running out 6 Fowling For Soup collected their third win for a 4-1 night, a great night!! Last up were the two tough luck teams, 2 Pinning for the Fjords and 7 One Eyed Jacks, both looking for their first victory. Lee and John took game 1 in an overtime thriller. Then the teams traded wins in games 2, 3 and 4 ending up tied going into game 5. There wasn’t much time left and 7 One Eyed Jacks finally had the ball bounce their way winning the final game of the season on pin count for a 3-2 victory to end up at 1-4. 2 PFTF ended up winless. Dammit. We know what Alicia would say.

Our champions are Fowled Folks Home who ended up pulling away from the pack winning the league by 3 games with a 15-5 record. As anticipated, 1 Bonk Dis and 5 Jabronis ended up tied for second. If our tiebreaker was Games Won Percentage, Jabronis would have taken it. 1 Bonk Dis actually lost 1 more game than they won going 37-38. But they were 12-8 in Match Play as was 5 Jabronis. Head-To-Head competition is how ties are broken in Fowling. The teams met twice in the season. In Week 2 Match 2, 1 Bonk Dis won 3-2. In Week 3 Match 4, again 1 Bonk Dis prevailed 3-2. So 1 Bonk Dis holds on to second place and 5 Jabronis take third. Racing to the finish in week four with a 4-1 record was 6 Fowling For Soup. In their inaugural season, Ben and Alexis grabbed 4th place at 11-9 while being 9 games below 500! With 10 wins and 10 losses were veteran leaguers 4 Bonks Shells taking 5th place. 3 Tiny Hands landed in sixth place finishing 9 and 11, 7 games over 500. Weird! Just to show you what hard luck looks like; 7 One Eyed Jacks landed in seventh place with an 8-12 record yet won more games than they lost!! 2 Pinning for the Fjords picked up 3 match victories over the course of the season and ended in eight place.
So, on to the playoffs. Unfortunately, a friend offered Janet Jackson Tickets to Kill Pin Patty Brown. Rules say you can’t win the tournament with a sub. But to keep everyone honest 8 FFH recruited Lisa Johnson, a player on par with KPP. They’ll play through the tournament but cannot take home the trophy. A true champion will fight through it to take the crown.

Each team ranked 3 through 8 at tournament’s end takes turns doing the “10 pin challenge”. 1 throw, $1 per pin knocked down, keep throwing until all $100 are gone. Someone Bonks or Strikes; they take home all remaining cash, and the season ends there.

Jeez, what fun week!
Not sure why everyone was in such a good mood. It was blazing hot outside so much that three large groups with outdoor events bailed on their original plans and came to the Warehouse, filling up 2 of the other 3 rinks. Maybe it was the noise and energy, who knows. All the teams seemed to be having fun. It was even more fun when Alma and Terry ordered pizzas for the league and we all had a little snack between games 3 and 4. We ended up not getting out of there until 10:30, and the staff didn’t even complain!!
This will be a shorter recap since I am in California right now for my nephew’s wedding.

Dominic and Noah 5 The Jabronis did the reverse, they dropped game one to 8 Fowled Folks Home before reeling off three wins for the victory. Shae and Nathan from 7 One Eyed Jacks got their first sweep with 4 wins over Ben and Alexis of 6 Bowling For Soup.

Dominic and Noah 5 The Jabronis did the reverse, they dropped game one to 8 Fowled Folks Home before reeling off three wins for the victory. Shae and Nathan from 7 One Eyed Jacks got their first sweep with 4 wins over Ben and Alexis of 6 Bowling For Soup.

Coming of the sweep, 7 One Eyed Jacks could not stack a second win over 2 Pinning for the Fjords who won the first two games before dropping the third. 8 Fowled Folks Home caught Terry and Alma of 1 Bonk Dis in a bit of a slump. Brandon Tuttle of 4 Bonkshells kicked off the night by picking up the 7-10 split for a first game victory over 5 Jabronis. That’s his second in two weeks. Bonkshells also won game two but Noah Helton of 5 Jabronis got a Bonk (FF)* in game three to fight back. Another win in the final match gave 4 Bonkshells the match victory.
A match between the two “most experienced” teams, our league leaders 1 Bonk Dis and 8 Fowled Folks Home was not as competitive as billed. Fowled Folks home won the first three games and was working on a fourth when time ran out.
Lee Gaiser John Leftwich of 7 Pinning for the Fjords were looking for their first match win and they found it taking on Shae Tatigian and Nathan Dunlap of 7 One Eyed Jacks winning games 1, 2 and 4 for a 3-1 match win. Their first!
Rookies Ben Harvey and Alexis Harold of 6 Fowling For Soup came in for some practice on Saturday and it paid off with a 3-2 win in a back and forth match with 3 Tiny Hands that ended in an Extra Time throw off.

The long running friendly rivalry between the Ferstles of 1 Bonk Dis and the Tuttles of 4 Bonk Shells continued. Game 1, Ferstles. Game 2, Tuttles, Game 3 Ferstles. And that was all we had time for. A 2-1 Bonk Dis victory.

Coming into the final match at 500, 8 Fowled Folks Home were facing the only undefeated team of the night 5 Jabronis. Just like that Patty and Scott snapped off three victories and finished the sweep with a Scott Brown kill shot as time ran out. 7 One Eyed Jacks finally got to play one of the other rookie teams. They won the first two but Ben and Alexis of 6 Fowling For Soup got some revenge winning game 3, still losing the match 1-2. The other rookie team did not fare well against 4 Bonk Shells. They won game 2 but the BonkShells picked up games 1 and 3 for a 2-1 match victory. Unfortunately, Lee and John of 2 Pinning for the Fjords have not yet picked up their first match win.
