WEEK 7 – THE PLAYOFFS
We took a week off for a big reservation last week so after the hiatus, it’s one final league night before Super Fowl in Indy this weekend.
As you remember, 10 Touch My Bonk had an almost insurmountable 3 games with 4 to go lead before last week started over 3 teams tied for second place ... 1 Fowl:20 managed to catch them but 10 Touch My Bonk kept first place with a 3-0 season record.
Seventh seeded 4 Bonk Shells had a holiday in Ireland planned and could not participate in the playoffs rewarding the 10 seed 6 Discarded Partners with a bye through the play in round. That left only 8 seed 2 Bonk Mates and 9 seed 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit to compete in the play in round. Jevit and Sequoyah dispatched Carolyn and Austin 4-0 to advance to play the 1 seed 10 Touch My Bonk.
That’s when things took a turn.
After awarding the prizing for the regular season performances the round of 8 began. The closest seeds were 9 Jack Daniels, the 4 seed vs 3 Here for the Golden Tee, the 5 seed. You could tell things were not going according to plan when Stewie and Bruce were throwing first every game ... and then packed up and left the court early, victims of a 4-0 sweep by the hands of Brenna and Laura of 3 Here for the Golden Tee for the first upset of the round.
6 minutes into the round, 3 seed 8 Fowled Folks Home found themselves down 3-0 to the hot handed Dominick and Noah of 5 The Jabronis. Scott and Patty managed to get two wins, albeit with the kill shot as time ran out. No chance of catching 5 The Jabronis ... another upset.
The 2 seed, but tiebreakers, was 1 Fowl:20 who had 10 seed 6 Discarded Partners as their opponent. Since this was not an AFA qualifier, Ed Willoughby requested a sub and we granted ... the sub was Dan Wurster. Proving that no good deed goes unpunished, Dan and Discarded Partner Keith Colegrove put together a pretty good game, enough to defeat Bella and Terry Ferstle 3-1 for the third upset of the round.
The 1 seed, 10 Touch My Bonk featuring veterans Randy Stewart and Paul Konkal drew 8 seed 2 Bonk Mates, our rookies Jevit Tith and Sequoyah King. They were still hot from their play in round sweep and before 10 Touch My Bonk got warmed up, time was running out and the teams were tied at 2 wins. With more pins down as time expired, 2 Bonk Mates won 3-2 on pins and advanced to the semi finals. All four underdogs advance. The top seeds were all out of the tournament 20 minutes in!!
The semi finals featured 3 We’re Here for the Golden Tee against 2 Bonk Mates and 6 Discarded Partners vs 5 The Jabronis. Brenna and Laura were not going to be stopped on this evening. The put together their second sweep of the night, though 2 Bonk Mates did not make it easy. They managed to get to overtime twice only to have Brenna knock down the 7 pin to win it. Jevit and Sequoyah learned a little too late that the 7 pin is Brenna’s jam! 3 We’re Here for the Golden Tee advances to the finals without a loss.
6 Discarded Partners were tangling with 5 The Jabronis. Wins were coming quickly for both teams including the first bonk ever for Jabroni Dominic Bazzano! As time ran out, 6 Discarded Partners managed win #3 to tie the match 3-3. Into extra time, Dan Wurster for 6 Discarded Partners got more pins than Noah Helton to seal the win and head for the finals.

The stools went out on the lanes as the entire league gathered for the finals. The third place game was a 20 minute timed match between 2 Bonk Mates and 6 Jabronis with Jevit and Sequoyah of Bonk Mates coming out on top 2-1. Not bad for a rookie season.
The Finals had some drama. 6 Discarded Partners would normally feature Ed Willoughby who was out and had sub Dan Wurster filling in. Laura Willoughby is the one who “discarded” Ed as her partner from last season to join up with Brenna Tavidian who was without long time partner and husband David who was exploring a career as a T-Ball coach. So now they had to play Keith Colegrove and the sub they brought to replace her husband in the finals. The Finals are a best of 7 untimed match. Game one went to Brenna and Laura. Game two had Discarded Partners firing at 1 pin while Golden Tee was stuck with the 7-10 split. That is until Laura threw a ball that bounced, hit the 10 pin, bounced two or three more times and took out the 7 pin for the win. Game three left Brenna to fire away at the 7 pin, which she got for the win (again). Nearing the end of game 4, the Discarded Partners were dismayed to see the 7 pin standing alone and Brenna at the tee. She did what she had been doing all night and killed the 7 pin for their third sweep of the evening! And the Spring League championship! Now we take a week off for Memorial Day and return for the first of three short Summer leagues. Our June league starts on Tuesday June 4th and goes for 4 weeks followed by a free Playoff on July 2. As usual, everyone gets FREE PRACTICE during the league. Sign up now! https://fowlingwarehouse.com/ypsiannarbor/june-league/ |
WEEK 6 -- LOG JAM IN SECOND PLACE
As we move into the final week of the season, 10 Touch My Bonk (17-6) had a three-game lead over three teams tied for second at 14-9 with 4 games left to play; 1 Fowl:20, 8-Fowled Folks Home and 9 Jack Daniels. Some would say that is a nearly insurmountable lead. A “magic number” of 2 ... any combination of wins by the leader or losses by the runner ups moves them one step closer to the regular season championship. How could they screw it up? Let’s find out.

MATCH 1
Let’s start with out “soon to be champs” Paul Konkal and Randy Stewart of 10 Touch My Bonk. First match is against 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit sitting in 9th place at 7-16. The oddsmakers took it on the chin as WAGBWGTS went undefeated for a 3-0 victory over the leaders. Yikes!! Our second-place teams all won their matches ... 1 Fowl:20 got a 3-0 victory over 4 Bonk Shells, 9 Jack Daniels also went 3-0 over 5 Jabronis featuring Ben Mitchell and Zack Ristau of Super Fowl filling in. 8 Fowled Folks Home also had sub Lisa Johnson in for Kill Pin Patty Brown and she instantly assumed the role. She cleared out 4 pins to finish off 6 Discarded Partners in game 2 and then threw a buzzer beater for the kill in game 4 for a 4-0 sweep. Recap: Leaders 0-1. Chasers 3-0. |
MATCH 2
This match featured 3 matches decided on pins in the final game. Stu and Bruce of 9 Jack Daniels were tied 2-2 with 4 Bonk Shells as time was running out, but won on pin count in game five to win the game and match. Kill Pin Lisa (Johnson) earned her new nickname in game one of their match with 5 Jabronis. She bounce a ball next to the final three pins which the bounced three times, one on top of each of the final three pins for the kill. Amazing. 8 Fowled Folks Home were in the final minute when The Jabronis got the final pin to win game 4 and tie up the match 2-2. Scott Brown was lucky enough to knock down more in Extra Time for the 3-2 win. Touch My Bonk were tied up 2-2 with 2 Bonk Mates as time ran out during game 5. With more pins down, they got the win to get the first of two needed lucky numbers. 1 Fowl:20 won a tight 2-1 match over 3 Here for the Golden Tee. Recap Leaders: 1-1. Chasers 6-0 |
MATCH 3
More extra time in Match 3. Brenna Tavidian and Laura Willoughby of 3-Here for the Golden Tee had more pins down as time ran out on 7 WAGBWGTS for the 2-1 victory. 10-Touch My Bonk could clinch over 5-Jabronis featuring Ben and Zach subbing for Dominick and Noah. Paul and Randy took game 1 but dropped game 2 and 3 for a 2-1 match loss. Meanwhile in Second Place, Bella and Terry Ferstle of 1 Fowl:20 were competing again fellow second placers Jeff Stewart and Bruce Caskey of 9 Jack Daniels. By the end of the match there was no doubt about the better team on this night. 1 Fowl:20 went undefeated with a 3-0 victory eliminating 9 Jack Daniels from championship contention. 8 Fowled Folks Home ended up having their hands full with 2 Bonk Mates. 8 Fowled Folks Home won the first game, 2 Bonk Mates took the second game and had the hammer for game 3. As time was running out, the pin count was 8 to 9 with 8 Fowled Folks home having the upper hand. Last Throw Kill Pin Lisa knocked down the final pin. But wait, no time remaining, the game was not complete. Tied 1-1, first tiebreaker is pin count and 8 Fowled Folks Home squeezed out another victory 2-1. Recap: Leaders 1-2. Chasers 8-1 with 9 Jack Daniels eliminated. |
MATCH 4
The final match and 10 Touch My Bonk had not yet clinched!! They drew the always tough 3 Here for the Golden Tee. Paul and Randy took games 2 and 3. Brenna and Laura took games 1 and 4. Game Five went to 3 Here for the Golden Tee. 10 Touch My Bonk did not clinch. The door was open. 8 Fowled Folks Home was still in it and had 7 We Ain’t Good But We Got The Spirit in the final match of the season. And sure Austin and Carolyn jumped out to a 2 win lead. Scott and Lisa came back to win game three but ran out of time on Gave 4 giving 7 WAGBWGTS the match victory and eliminating 8 Fowled Folks Home from the title chase. That left only one more of the chasers in contention, 1 Fowl:20. Up to this point they had only lost one game, back in Match 2. They were firing on all cylinders when they dispatched the subs for 5 Jabronis in a 4-0 sweep. Final Recap: Leaders 1-3. Chasers 10-2 |
WEEK 6 RESULTS
10 Touch My Bonk didn’t end up getting the second half of their magic number. 1 Fowl:20 going 4-0 while 10 Touch My Bonk went 1-3 tied them for first place at 18-9. The other two teams were perfect when playing anyone but 7 We Ain’t Good But We Got The Spirit. The two lone blemishes on 8 Fowled Folks Home and 9 Jack Daniels were losses to 7 WAGBWGTS, dropping both teams into a tie for third place. 3 Here for the Golden Tee started the evening 1 game behind the group in second and remained there with a 3-1 evening. Their only loss was to the charging 1 Fowl:20 and were the only team to win a game against them. |
WEEK 6 STANDINGS
These are the final standings of the regular season, so we can’t leave any ties unresolved. There is a tie for first place at 16-9. First tiebreaker is head-to-head and 10 Touch My Bonk won all three matchups giving them the championship, making 1 Fowl:20 the runner ups. There was also a tie for third between 8 Fowled Folks Home and 9 Jack Daniels at 17-10. The head-to-head went 2-1 in favor of 8 Fowled Folks Home. Way down in Eighth Place both 2 Bonk Mates and 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit ended the season at 9-18 but 2 Bonk Mates won the head-to-head competition 2-1. So the bracket is set for Tuesday May 21. No League next week due to the venue sell out. 4 Bonk Shells will be on vacation in Ireland and won’t make the tournament so their play in opponent 6 Discarded Partners gets a bye into the next round to play the 2 seed 1 Fowl:20. We will have only 1 game in the play-in round between 8 seed 2 Bonk Mates and 9 Seed 7 We Ain’t Good But We Got The Spirit (so that tiebreaker didn’t count for anything, did it?) After the Finals we will be Fowling For Dollars with each team member firing away at 10 pins and getting a buck for each pin that falls until the $100 is gone or someone gets a Bonk or a Strike and takes the remaining prize money. Have a great break and we will see you for the playoffs in two weeks.
WEEK 5 -- SPARES, EXTRA TIME, OVERTIME ... BUT NO BONKS
This week was crazy. There were no less than 7 spares, personal and team spares ... there was a match between the top two teams that came down to the last throw. There were 5 overtime, pins and extra time games. It all ended with one team in first by three games and three teams tied for second place. Just another week in the Spring Doubles League.

MATCH 1
4 Bonk Shells got off to a fast start with a 4-0 sweep. 3 Here for the Golden Tee and 8 Fowled Folks home had a back and forth match with Brenna and Laura from Golden Tee answering a game 1 loss with a team spare in game two. But time ran out as Golden Tee won game four to tie up the match. In Extra Time Kill Pin Patty Brown knocked down more pins for the 8 Fowled Folks Home win. Also logging a W were 5 Jabronis, 9 Jack Daniels and 10 Touch My Bonk |
MATCH 2
1 Fowl:20 matched their potential by posting a 4-0 sweep over 8 Fowled Folks Home. The first two games went very quickly but Bella and Terry showed true mercy in their mercy by slowing down their winning pace to allow the match to finish near regulation time, avoiding the walk of shame for the vanquished. Brenna Tavidian got a personal spare in game 5 to notch the 4 win of the match of 3 Here for the Golden Tee. It was Bourbon on Bourbon violence as Bourbon Brother Stewie of 9-Jack Daniels, sitting in second place, took on Bourbon Brother Randy Stewart of leaders 10 Touch my Bonk. The match went to game 5 with 9 Jack Daniels picking up a game on the leaders with the win. Also winning were 2 Bonk Mates and 4 Bonkshells. |
MATCH 3
Patty Brown of 8 Fowled Folks Home picked up a personal spare in game one as part of a 3-0 win over 9 Jack Daniels to keep their place in the standings tied up. 5 The Jabronis went to overtime in game 2 of their match with 3 Here for the Golden Tee as part of a 3-0 match win. 10 Touch My Bonk showed first place power with a 4-0 sweep of 4 Bonk Shells. 1 Fowl:20 was firing on all cylinders with a 4-0 sweep of 7 We Ain’t Good But We Got The Spirit (aka WAGBWGTS). 6 Discarded Partners also grabbed a 2-1 victory over 2 Bonk Mates. |
MATCH 4
This is where things got kinda nuts. There were accusations of “Doping” as 3 Here for the Golden Tee members Brenna Tavidian and Laura Willoughby went on a tear in their 3-1 victory over 4 Bonk Shells. Brenna kicked it off with a Personal Spare winning game 1. Then Laura joined in for a Team Spare in game 2. 4 Bonk Shells managed a victory in game 3 but Golden Tee finished them off in game 4 for a 3-1 match win. Meanwhile down the lanes 10 Touch My Bonk and 8 Fowled Folks Home were tied at 1 pin remaining after only a minute or two into the match. Paul Konkal missed, Scott Brown missed, Randy Stewart missed, Patty Brown missed. Repeat this sequence for the next 14 minutes. Finally with only 4 minutes remaining, Patty Brown connected and 8 Fowled Folks Home took a 1-0 lead. Of course it only took minutes for 10 Touch My Bonk to win game two. With less than a minute left, Scott Brown knocked down 5 on his throw. Randy Stewart had one throw with the clock off and he got ... wait for it ... 6. Friggin’ Randy! 2-1 win in Extra Time for 10 Touched My Bonk. Also winning were 1 Fowl:20, 2 Bonk Mates and 9 Jack Daniels. |
MATCH 5
More nuttiness in the final match coming out of the 3 Here for the Golden Tee camp. Sitting at 1-2 after three games against 9 Jack Daniels, Brenna and Laura combined for “the slowest spare in history” in game 4 and with time running out won game 5 on pins. 8 Fowled Folks Home were again embroiled in two tediously long games splitting the wins with 4 Bonk Shells. Game 3 went to overtime with Kill Pin Patty Brown besting Brandon Tuttle on the last throw. Also winning were 1 Fowl:20, 5 The Jabronis and 10 Touch My Bonk. |
WEEK 5 STANDINGS
With 4 games to play in Week 6, Randy Stewart and Paul Konkal of 10 Touch My Bonk have practically sewn up the regular season championship with a 3 game lead over second place. There’s a 3 way tie for second at 14-9 with Jack Daniels having a slightly better games won percentage than 1 Fowl:20 and much better than 8 Fowled Folks Home the third team sitting in second at 14-9. Right behind that group is 3 Here for the Golden Tee at 13-10 and 5 The Jabronis at 12-11. |
We have 4 games next week, then a one week break since there is a sellout on Tuesday May 14 with the playoffs and Fowling For Dollars on Tuesday May 21. Then off to Indy for SUPER FOWL!!
WEEK 4 -- THE POST AFA BLUES (OR BLAHS)
Our Tuesday league happened right on the heels of the AFA Championship weekend in Grand Rapids so everyone was moving a bit slower. Congrats to Bonkshank Redemption from Cincinnati on winning the 2024 AFA Championship. To check on the Ypsi Ann Arbor team results, just page down to the previous post.
Here in Tuesday Night Doubles Land, we are exactly halfway through with a tightly packed field. We played only four matches tonight to keep the game count even after each round robin.

Here in Tuesday Night Doubles Land, we are exactly halfway through with a tightly packed field. We played only four matches tonight to keep the game count even after each round robin.
MATCH 1
3 Here for the Golden Tee featured a sub, Dan Wurster in for Laura Willoughby and Dan made a pretty good pairing with Skipper Brenna Tavidian. They ended up sweeping 2 Bonk Mates 4-0 in Match 1. Carolyn Billetdeaux and Austin Brown of 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit could not find the same magic that propelled them to 5-0 last week, losing all three to 10 Touch My Bonk. Not a sweep. 1-Fowl:20, 5 Jabronis and 6 Discarded Partners also picked up a win |
MATCH 2
7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit and 6 Discarded Partners took 20 minutes to complete two games ... that had to be frustrating!! WAGBWGTS won both games and took the win. No other teams won or lost them all. Other winners included 3 Here for the Golden Tee (again), 4 Bonk Shells, 8 Fowled Folks Home and 10 Touch My Bonk. |
MATCH 3
9 Jack Daniels, with Lisa Johnson playing the part of Jeff Stewart, got a 4-0 sweep. 3 Here for the Golden Tee and 8 Fowled Folks Home both got 4-1 wins. 4 Bonk Shells won their first three games but dropped the final against 6 Discarded Partners for a 3-1 win. 10 Touch My Bonk only managed 3 complete games against 5 The Jabronis dropping the first but winning the final two |
MATCH 4
A 4-0 sweep for Bella and Terry Ferstle of 1 Fowl:20 evened up their night. Brenna Tavidian sub Dan Wurster of 3 Here for the Golden Tee completed their 4-0 sweep of the evening winning 3-2 over 10 Touch My Bonk. In a tiring display of Fowling, 8 Fowled Folks Home and 7 WAGBWGTS took 15 minutes to complete game one of their match and could not complete a second game with the match going to 8 Fowled Folks Home 1-0. |
WEEK 4 STANDINGS
10 Touch My Bonk held on to the league lead at 13-5 and expanded it by a game over 9 Jack Daniels 11-7 who fell into a tie for second with 8 Fowled Folks Home 11-7. 3 Here for the Golden Tee used their 4-0 performance to leapfrog into a tie for fourth place with 1 Fowl:20 at 10-8. 5 The Jabronis are alone in sixth place at 9-9, as are 4 Bonk Shells in seventh at 8-10, 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit in eighth at 7-11, 2 Bonk Mates in ninth at 6-12 and 6 Discarded Partners in tenth at 5-13. Next week we have 5 match to set the table for the final week of the regular season. See ya then!! |
WEEK 3 -- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY AND THE UNEXPECTED SWEEP
We all had a great time celebrating the 2nd anniversary on Friday April 12th. It also felt like the teams that were in attendance were all lagging a little bit on Tuesday night as we reconvened for league play. We do have throw out a big congratulations to leaguers Alicia Curley and Danielle Hixson who knocked off some really good teams including Danielle’s husband Clint and Fowling Founder Chris Hutt. They won the final 3-0 against Kirby Clifton and Steve Ney who have both competed in the AFA championships.
Also, this is the first time we had all the league present simultaneously (why didn’t I take the league photo ... dammit). All Bourbon Brothers were present and accounted for.

MATCH 1
Everything started off normally, no bonks, no spares, no strikes. We did have two 4-0 sweeps from Dominic Bazzano and Noah Helton of 5 The Jabronis and Jeff Stewart and Bruce Caskey of 9 Jack Daniels (which was a placeholder name for the team, but it looks like it’s going to stick). Also, a rare win from 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit (WAGBWGTS as other teams have been referring to them on their scorecard. Carolyn Billetdeaux and Austin Brown were feeling quite humble when they named their team. They were blanked in week 1 and got 1 win in week 2. So the name was prophetic. They doubled their season win total in Match 1 tonight. |
MATCH 2
The top two teams in the standings and a clash of brothers as 9 Jack Daniels featuring Bourbon Brother Stu vs 10 Touch My Bonk with Bourbon Brother Randy Stewart. The match did not disappoint as they split games 1 and 2. But Jeff (Stu) Stewart and Bruce Caskey pulled away winning games 3 and 4 to take the match 3-1, putting them in first by 2 games. Also, in Match 2 we go to see a first as Laura Willoughby of 3 Here for the Golden Tee got her first BONK ever in game 3 ... of course it was against her husband Ed Willoughby of 6 Discarded Partners. Bella Ferstle of 1 Fowl:20 picked off the kill pin as time ran out to get a a 5-1 mercy. Meanwhile WAGBWGTS won a second match, losing the first game but winning the final three. |
MATCH 3
It’s always exciting with the 4 Bonk Shells are playing. With her recent tournament championship adding to her confidence, Alicia Curley and Brandon Tuttle were tied 2-2 against 10 Touch My Bonk. One throw for Randy Stewart ... he got 5. Up stepped Alicia and knocked down 8 for the 3-2 victory. No sweeps, mercies, Bonks or Strikes, but WAGBWGTS won a THIRD match! |
MATCH 5
... win EVERY MATCH tonight, is there? The last time WAGBWGTS played this same sequence of teams back in week 1, they went 0-5. Not to keep you in suspense ... they DID win their fifth match in a row losing game 1 but picking up games 2 and 3 for the 2-1 victory. Brenna Tavidian of 3 Here For The Golden Tee, managed to get a personal spare in game 4 against 9 Jack Daniels. Unfortunately, they were already down by 3 games at that point and ended up dropping the match 3-2. |
WEEK 3 RESULTS
So everyone congratulate Carolyn Billetdeaux and Austin Brown on their first ever 5-0 week. 8 Fowled Folks Home went 4-1, losing only when 1 Fowl:20 Mercied them 5-1 in Match 2. To counteract the 5-0 record by WAGBWGTS, our league leaders went 3-2 (9 Jack Daniels) and 2-3 (10 Touch My Bonk). 1 Fowl:20, 3 Here for the Golden Tee and 5 The Jabronis all escaped the week with a winning 3-2 record. |
WEEK 3 STANDINGS
Not much changed in the standings for 9 of the teams. Our top two teams switched spots with 10 Touch My Bonk up by one game 10-4 over 9 Jack Daniels who dropped into second at 9-5. Three teams are at 8-6 ... 1 Fowl:20, 5 The Jabronis and 8 Fowled Folks Home and three more are at 3 Here for the Golden Tee, 2 Bonk Mates and 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit (who are suddenly GOOD and still have THE SPIRIT!) are all 6-8. Close behind is 4 Bonk Shells at 5-9 and 6 Discarded Partners at 4-10 to round out the league. |
This weekend is the AFA Championships. If you can make it up to the Grand Rapids Fowling Warehouse on Saturday 4/20. Cheer on Danielle Hixson and Clint Hixson of Wine Some, Booze Some, Randy Stewart and Jeff Stewart of The Bourbon Brothers, Tommy Andre and Josh Daley of Chewbonkka’s and Kevin Ney and Steve Bitel of Pin Ticklers trying to bring a AFA Championship back to Ypsi Ann Arbor.

WEEK 2 – THE BONK IS BACK!
A week after ending our 19 week Bonk Streak, the Spring Leaguers could not get enough of the Bonk Horn on Tuesday. We had two of them, both in very advantageous time in the match.
It is nice that the Bourbon Brothers have separate teams so you don’t look down and see an instant L on your scorecard. But with both Randy and Jeff having “Lower Body Injuries” we have only seen one week of actual Bourbon Brother Fowling so far ... and their teams are STILL 1-2 in the rankings. Must be some of that Angel’s Cut fairy dust sprinkled on their subs, huh?
Only 4 Matches this week to keep our 9 game round robin for 10 teams intact.

MATCH 1
The call of the Michigan Manatee rang through the Fowling Warehouse. Scott Brown hit the timers and ran down to lane 12 in time to see his partner on 8-Fowled Folks Home Patty Brown knock down 4 pins. The ball returned and Scott got his throw ... a 6 pin spare! Second game against the Discarded Partners was more methodical and ended in a tie with 6-Discarded Partners picking up the win. In game three a pin top skipper hit Scott right in the Cooper, slightly disabling him. It’s not why he and Patty lost game three, but it did add insult to injury, a 1-2 loss to Ed Willoughby and Keith Colegrove of 6 Discarded Partners. Also match wins notched for 4 Bonk Shells, 9 Jack Daniels and 10 Touch My Bonk and a 4-0 sweep by 3 Here for the Golden Tee |
MATCH 2
4 Bonk Shells were locked in a very tight match with 9 Jack Daniels. They dropped the first two games but won games 3 and 4 to tie things up with less than a minute to go. That means each team gets one throw, and Brandon Tuttle of 4 Bonk Shells did not waste his shot throwing a BONK to end the match with a 3-2 win!! 5 Jabronis also won game 4 to tie up their match with 8 Fowled Folks Home with less than a minute to go and took the win with their single throw. We also got wins from 1 Fowl:20, 10 Touch My Bonk and (finally for Carolyn and Austin a first win for 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit. |
MATCH 3
The match between 10 Touch My Bonk and 5 Jabronis started the way you think it would, with Kevin Ney and Randy Stewart taking the win. Then Noah Helton of 5 Jabronis unleashed a convincing BONK to win the game and tie up the match and give them some hope of a win ... which was quickly dashed as 10 Touch My Bonk reeled off 4 straight wins to get the 5-1 mercy. Joining them in the W column were the first 4 teams, 1 Fowl:20, 2 Bonk Mates, 3 Here for the Golden Tee and 4 Bonk Shells. |
MATCH 4
We’re not sure why, but Ed Willoughby and Keith Colegrove of 6 Discarded Partners played only 2 games against 10 Touch My Bonk. They lost both of them to lose the match. Over the course of the 4 matches this week, they only managed to complete 10 games or 2 ½ per match. Compare that with the 20 games those speedy Jabronis fit in during the same amount of time. Has 6 Discarded Partners figured out how to get their opponents to play slower? Something to watch isn’t it? 2 Bonk Mates,5 The Jabronis 8 Fowled Folks Home and 9 Jack Daniels also snagged wins. |
WEEK 2 RESULTS
The big winners this week were Randy Stewart and Kevin Ney who was filling in for Paul Konkal of 10 Touch My Bonk. They won all 4 games. 4 Bonk Shells with 3-1. 1 Fowl:20, 2 Bonk Mates, 3 Here for the Golden Tee, 5 The Jabronis and 9 Jack Daniels all split at 2-2. 6 Discarded Partners, 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit and 8 Fowled Folks Home all only managed 1 win. No one was skunked this week. |
WEEK 2 STANDINGS
10 Touch My Bonk sits on top of the Standings at 8-1. Second at 6-3 is the other half of the Bourbon Brothers 9 Jack Daniels, even though Stewie hasn’t actually played for his own team yet due to injury. 1 Fowl:20, 5 The Jabronis and 2 Bonk Mates are 3-4-5 all at 5-4. 8 Fowled Folks Home, 6 Discarded Partners and 4 Bonk Shells are 6-7-8, all at 4-5. 3 Here for the Golden Tee holds 9th place at 3-6 and 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit are in the caboose at 1-8. |
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Second Anniversary Party. Alicia and Danielle won the tournament over Kevin Ney and Kirby Clifton, knocking out the game’s inventor Chris Hutt in the Quarterfinal and a team of Jeff Stewart and Danielle’s husband Clint in the Semi Final. Some pretty decent competition.

WEEK ONE -- LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
The lead up to week one went as all league startups go. A lot of last minute entries, trying to reach an even number of teams and finally landing on a great group of Fowlers representing all skill levels and history. Then finding subs for week 1. Just as planned!
It was great to see some of the historic teams splitting up and creating new partnerships. The Bourbon Brothers, coming off their dramatic playoff win in the AFA Qualifying league broke into two teams with Paul Konkal recruiting Randy for team 10 which have given the placeholder team name Jim Beam, and Jeff joining up with Bruce Kaskey for team 9, which we will call Jack Daniels. Of course, Jeff and Bruce were both out of town for the opener and they sent subs Eric “E” Smith and Dan “2 Bears” Wurster.
Brenna Tavidian and Laura Willoughby discarded their partners and teamed up to create Team 3 We’re Here for the Golden Tee. Jilted Ed Willoughby found jilted Keith Colegrove and made lemonade out of lemons to create the aptly named Team 6 Discarded Partners.
We have the rookies Jevit Tith and Sequoyah King joining us at Team 2 Bonk Mates. We also have some long-time pairs who have appeared in almost every FWYA2 league thus far; Bella and Terry Ferstle of the abbreviated Team 1 Fowl:20, Alicia Curley and Brandon Tuttle of Team 4 Bonk Shells, Dominic Bazzano and Noah Helton of Team 5 The Jabronis and Scott and Patty Brown of Team 8 Fowled Folks Home.
Great group of folks. This is gonna be a great season!!

Great group of folks. This is gonna be a great season!!
MATCH 2
This almost never happens ... all 5 matches ended in a 3-2 score. For 2 Bonk Mates it was their first league win ever. 10 Jim Beam bested 9 Jack Daniels in the battle of the Bourbon Brothers ... although we’ll put an asterisk on this one since Jeff was out of town. 5 The Jabronis had a tightly contested match, game 3 of the 3-2 match featured an overtime thriller against 2 Bonk Shells. 6 Discarded Partners and 8 Fowled Folks Home both picked up their second match win. 1 Bella and Terry Ferstle picked up a team Spare in game two of their loss to 8 Fowled Folks Home, but still no Bonks or Strikes. |
MATCH 3
Things slowed down in Match 3 with three 3 game matches and two 4 game matches. As a league we typically get almost 5 games in every match. 1 Fowl:20 got their first win of the season. 9 Jack Daniels handed 8 Fowled Folks Home their first loss as the rookies 2 Bonk Mates dished out the first L to 6 Discarded Partners. 5 The Jabronis picked up their second match win as well. Bonks/Strikes held hostage 3 matches. |
MATCH 4
The new team of Brenna Tavidian and Laura Willoughby collectively known as 3 Here for the Golden Tee picked up their first match win in a 3-0 sweep of 4 Bonk Shells. 10 Jim Beam fought off 8 Fowled Folks Home who came back from a game 1 loss to take a 2-1 lead before Paul and Randy won game 4 with less than a minute to go. In the 1 throw final game 5, Randy bested Patty knocking down 7 pins for the win. Also grabbing a W in Match 4 were 1 Fowl:20, 2 Bonk Mates and 9 Jack Daniels. Bonks/Strikes held hostage 4 matches. |
MATCH 5
4 Bonk Shells had a strange night. After winning their very first game in Match 1, they had lost ever other game 1, 2 and 3 the rest of the night going into Match 5. They broke the streak (somewhat) against 8 Fowled Folks Home by winning game 2. Unfortunately, they lost games 1 and 3 and game 4 on a buzzer beating kill shot as time expired. 1 Fowl:20, 5 The Jabronis and 9 Jack Daniels picked up wins. But most exciting was 6 Discarded Partners who were in a pincount match against 10 Jim Beam who was undefeated. Randy made his last throw with less than 10 seconds leaving just 4 pins. Keith Colgrove of 6 Discarded partners made his final throw as time ran out and left only three pins standing. But did he get the shot off in time? We had to go to the surveillance cameras for an instant replay to determine that the clock DID NOT read triple zeros when the ball left his hand, giving 10 Jim Beam their only loss and 6 Discarded partners a much needed victory. Sadly, no Bonks or Strikes. The streak is over at 19 weeks. |
WEEK 1 RESULTS
As expected, even divided The Bourbon Brothers top our scoreboard, with 9 Jack Daniels in first and 10 Jim Beam right behind featuring 4-1 records. The there is a 5 team log jam at 3-2 featuring 5 The Jabronis, 8 Fowled Folks Home, 1 Fowl:20, 6 Discarded Partners and 2 Bonk Mates. 3 Here for the Golden Tee and 4 Bonk Shells both had tough weeks going 1-4 ... these veteran teams will bounce back. In a self-fulfilling prophecy or a great deal of self-awareness, Carolyn Billetdeaux and Austin Brown of 7 We Ain't Good But We Got The Spirit did not pick up a win this week, but did come damn close losing their first three matches by only 1 game. Week 2 next week has only 4 matches so we can keep the matchups even with each team playing the other 3 matches over the course of the season. |
